05 Oct Missions Opportunity at the State Fair
Come serve at the North Carolina State Fair! This year, Baptists on Mission is handling volunteers to run the ticket booths around the fair. After a year with no fair, this is a great opportunity to show our neighbors from all over North Carolina how much we love them!
Volunteers will serve in shifts each day. The available shifts can be found via the sign-up link in this email. They are 10am – 4:30pm and 4:30pm – 11:30pm. Volunteers are asked to arrive an hour before their shift for a brief training and introduction. As a thank you, every volunteer will receive free admission to the fair and free parking on the day of their shift. Five volunteers per shift are needed to relieve other volunteers for breaks.
Why the State Fair?
In serving at this event, there will be a donation to BOM in exchange for this service. Baptists on Mission is working on disaster relief and rebuild efforts in Haywood County, NC, and the donation received from this event will go to those efforts.
This is also a great opportunity for you to share Christ’s love in word and deed, as you serve in this capacity and share kindness with each person you encounter. While the ticket line will need to move fast, you can pray quietly for each person you serve. You might even have the opportunity for further conversations after your shift as people recognize your yellow shirt around the fairgrounds.
This event will help Baptists on Mission build relationships and rapport for future ministry opportunities to and through the NC State Fair. The dental truck already serves carnival workers during the fair week, and BOM would love to grow our relationship with the State Fair team in an effort to continue to minister and involve churches in ministering at this event.
Where do I sign up?
You can sign up right here! Once you’re signed up, BOM will reach out sometime soon with more details.
