School Supplies & Book Bag Collection for Durham Rescue Mission
Now through the month of July
All donations are due by Sunday, August 2, 2026
GHBC’s Missions Evangelism Team is collecting new school supplies and backpacks for the Durham Rescue Mission’s Annual Back-to-School School Supply Giveaway.
Each year, Durham Rescue Mission provides new backpacks filled with school supplies to at-risk children in our community, helping them begin the school year prepared and encouraged.
On Wednesday, August 19, students and their parents or guardians are invited to Durham Rescue Mission, located at 1201 E. Main Street, Durham, for a special Back-to-School Party beginning at 9:00 AM. Families will enjoy free hot dogs, clothing, and receive a new backpack filled with school supplies.
We want to be a blessing to school-aged children and help set them up for a successful school year. Please consider donating any of the following new items:
- Backpacks
- Binders (soft or hard)
- Composition books
- Spiral notebooks
- Loose-leaf paper
- Boxes of pencils (12 count)
- Black or blue pens
- Highlighters
- Pocket presentation folders
- 12-inch rulers
- 24-count crayons
- Colored pencils
- Pencil sharpeners
- Pencil boxes
- Binder pencil bags
- Scissors
- Glue sticks
- 4 oz. bottles of liquid glue

All donations must be turned in by Sunday, August 2, 2026, so they can be delivered to Durham Rescue Mission in time for backpack preparation.
